1. Terrifying murder mystery video game
So this new release murder mystery game is a challenge, to say the least. Don’t Scream puts you in the middle of a creepy ass forest full of dead people and jump scares, challenging you to escape without making too much noise. The kicker is the noise is based on your mic, breathing too hard can cause the sound to jump, and your toast.

This oldie (2019) is the greatest hits must-play if you love murder mystery games as we do. Disco Elysium got a refresh a couple of years ago and we can’t wait to play it. If you love a choice-matter-style game like The Quarry, you have to give this one a go.

If you haven’t noticed I have a thing for serial killers, they fascinate me, more the psychology than the acts. But when Dark Pictures released The Devil In Me, which centers around the Murder Hotel, I had to add it to my playlist.
A group of documentary filmmakers receives a mysterious call inviting them to a modern-day replica of serial killer H.H. Holmes ‘Murder Castle’. But on arrival, they soon discover they’re being watched, and even manipulated, and suddenly there is much more at stake than just their ratings…
6. Spooky detective video games switch
So I won’t lie, the picture made me laugh and I had to investigate further. CapCom was a household name for me growing up, so to see this a remaster for them I had to add it to my wishlist. Factor in your play as a ghost solving your murder, it’s a win all around.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, the classic puzzle-solving mystery adventure directed by Ace Attorney creator Shu Takumi, is back! This long-awaited HD remaster features upgraded visuals sound and new gallery content.

Not only does this look like a cozy mystery come to life, it just screams cuddled on the couch in all your sweatpants glory. If. If you love puzzle games or escape room mysteries you need to add this one to your playlist.

Okay, I’ve played Rachel Foster before, and while the subject matter of the game can be very triggering for some, it is a great game. It’s a murder mystery with heavy The Shining vibes.
Coming back to the family hotel after years, a young woman finds herself trapped with the ghosts from her past and an old cellular telephone as the only way to unveil a terrible truth.
11. One of the best investigation games on Steam
So if you want to legit walk into a crime scene and solve it, you must play Scene Investigators. This new release looks to be a ton of fun in the making,
Scene Investigators is a deductive reasoning game for fans of the “true crime” genre. Step into re-created crime scenes, observe closely for pieces of evidence, analyze possible motives behind the crimes, and uncover what truly happened.

I cannot wait for this one to be released. The title alone, Dead On Arrival stopped me in my scrolling tracks. Needless to say, I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
Dead On Arrival is a Crime Scene Investigation game where players must gather clues, use forensic equipment, and analyze the evidence discovered at the scene. Work with your friends to uncover who committed the crime, and convict the correct suspect on a wide range of different maps.

This is another murder mystery game that I’ve had the pleasure of playing already but will be playing it again. Charons Staircase was the game that brought me back to gaming after years of not playing, so needless to say it holds a special place in my heart.
In this first-person horror mystery game, you set out to bury the horrible past of a tyrannical government. Retrieve and destroy the documents that unravel the secrets that lie beneath Oack Grove. Will you discover the terrifying truth and find your way out?

So I have a weak spot for Agatha Christie so whenever a movie or game comes out based on her works I have to give them a go. Murder On The Orient Express is waiting at the top of my wishlist.

Ok, if you love Asian horror and mystery, you have to play this classic. It’s been touched up and rereleased and it is a beautiful mystery game that everyone should play at least once.
FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO: Maiden of Black Water” comes to Steam for the first time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the horror-adventure series FATAL FRAME / PROJECT ZERO. The game is set on sacred Mt. Hikami, a site of many mysterious and terrifying incidents.

So I originally played this when it was first released and while I enjoyed it, it had some bugs that needed to be worked out. So I’m looking forward to giving it another go now that they’ve had some time to work out the kinks.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be a maid with a stalker, This Bed We Made needs to be on your gaming list.
This Bed We Made is a third-person mystery game in which you play as a maid in a 1950s hotel and snoop around strangers’ rooms to uncover their deadly secrets. Discover what links guests together in this tale of love, heartbreak, and murder!

So you not only get to dive into your 20s as a private investigator, you’ve also gotta deal with cosmic monsters. The Sinking City may be a couple of years old, but it still looks like a great play.

Don’t come for me, yes I know Alone In The Dark was supposed to release on Halloween. But even though they’ve pushed the release date, it does look like it’s going to be an amazing game and I can’t wait to play it.
Return to Derceto Manor in this reimagination of Alone in the Dark, a love letter to the 90’s cult classic horror game.
22. Classic murder mystery video game
With the release of Alan Wake 2, I had to include the first on our must-play murder mystery videogames list. Alan Wake set the bar for the second and both look epic.

Close to the Sun is one of those games that keeps you guessing and questioning until the end. It’s been a while since I played it, and I hope to dive back into it this winter.

So if you have pressure anxiety like myself, this may not be a great game choice for us. The gameplay looks amazing, but I don’t know if my nerves can take the pressure of being a 911 operator.
911 Operator Interactive Movie is a feature-length interactive film, in which the player takes the role of an emergency line operator. Many lives are at stake, based on your decisions.
25. Interesting murder mystery videogames 2024
My first thought when I watched the trailer for this, was Oh, Clue 2024. I love a good interactive story throw in a mystery and I’ll spend hours lost in this one.
Explore a mysterious hotel and infiltrate a cult in this FMV detective game, featuring a cast from GoT, The Witcher, and more. Every decision counts as you gather clues and question guests. Can you unearth the ominous secrets at The Isle Tide Hotel before it’s too late to save your missing daughter?
