16. Sinister high-rated horror books you need to read

high-rated horror books

by Kristopher Triana (Author)

Super fans. Groupies. Stalkers.

These people will give anything for the idols they worship, be they rock stars, actors, or authors. Or even serial killers.

Lori is just such a fanatic. Her obsession is with Edmund Cox, a man of sadistic cruelty who butchered more than twenty women. She’s gone so far as to forge a relationship with him, visiting him in prison and sending him letters regularly. She will do anything to get close to him, so when he gives her a task, she eagerly accepts it.

She has no idea of the horror that awaits her.

Edmund tells her she must go to his cabin in the woods of Killen and retrieve a key to deliver to a mysterious figure known only as The River Man.

In her quest, she brings along her handicapped sister, and they journey through the deep, dark valley, beginning their trip upriver. The trip quickly becomes a surreal nightmare, one that digs up Lori’s demons, the ones she feels bond her to Edmund. The river runs with flesh, the cabin is a vault of horrors, and ghostly blues music echoes through the mountains. Soon they will learn that The River Man is not quite fact or folklore, and not human — at least, not anymore. And the key is just the beginning of what is required of Lori to prove she’s worthy of a madman’s love.

Booked and Bewitched Babbles- So I’m not sure if this is splatterpunk horror or romance, but I can’t wait to find out. Gone To See The River Man sounds like an amazing read, and I can’t wait to find out just what exactly the river man is.

17. Fearsome brutal horror books

A young hospital security guard with a disturbingly unique taste in women. A maternity doctor with a horrifically unusual appetite. When the two of them meet, they embark on a journey of self-discovery while shattering societal norms and engaging in destructively aberrant behavior.

As they unwittingly help each other understand a world in which neither seems to belong, they begin to realize what it truly means to be alive…And that it might not always be a good thing.

Booked and Bewitched Babbles- Well, as someone who worked in the hospital industry for 10 years, I’m in no rush to dive into Dead Inside. This brutal horror book is gonna chill mid-level on my TBR until I work up the guts to read it.

18. Daunting and disturbing horror book

disturbing horror book

by Chandler Morrison (Author), and Sadie Hartmann (Foreword)

Los Angeles fashion model Helen Troy wasn’t always skinny. Drastic weight loss has given her money, confidence, attention, and respect. Being thin has legitimized her, and starvation has become an addiction.

Following an encounter with a seemingly “perfect” rival model who destabilizes Helen’s shaky self-confidence and shatters her fragile illusion of control, she’s sent into a tragic tailspin that will take her to the lowest depths of hell.

Nightmarish versions of herself begin materializing in mirrors, and her tried-and-true coping mechanisms stop working. Reality comes apart at the seams as Helen’s disease manifests in increasingly self-destructive fashions, forcing her to ask herself…

What does perfection look like, and how much would you sacrifice to obtain it?

Booked and Bewitched Babbles-  Yeah, this one landed on my recommended reads list, and I’m not so sure I wanna sink into #Thighgap. Is there anything more terrifying than the horror that psychological fiction can bring to life?

19. Edge-Of-Your-Seat best splatterpunk books of all time

best splatterpunk books of all time

by Nick Cutter (Author)

Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip—a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfire.

But when an unexpected intruder stumbles upon their campsite—shockingly thin, disturbingly pale, and voraciously hungry—Tim and the boys are exposed to something far more frightening than any tale of terror.

The human carrier of a bioengineered nightmare. A horror that spreads faster than fear. A harrowing struggle for survival with no escape from the elements, the infected…or one another.

Booked and Bewitched Babbles- So, take Lord of the Flies, throw in a boy scouts leader, and something from 28 Days Later, and boom- The Troop, was born. As someone who regularly goes camping. Let me just tell you this extreme horror novel has me edgy about this year’s camping season.

20. Unparalled splatterpunk vs extreme horror books

splatterpunk vs extreme horror books

by Wade H. Garrett (Author)

WARNING: This book is extreme and contains filthy, grotesque, and brutal torture scenes. It contains GRAPHIC CONTENT, ADULT LANGUAGE & POLITICAL INCORRECTNESS, and may be disturbing to sensitive readers.

The main character, Seth Coker, and his sidekick, Barry Muller, hold nothing back as they inflict the most gruesome and sadistic acts of torture on the criminals and lowlifes of our society. This book is extremely graphic, but it’s also filled with dark humor.

Splatterpunk gets straight to the gore and has a very little storyline. It jumps from one gory scene after another without any rhyme or reason.

Booked and Bewitched Babbles- So this one says it all in the title, Splatterpunk. Straight out of the gate, we are hit with blood and guts. Needless to say, this horror suspense lives up to its namesake.

This post was all about 20 killer splatterpunk horror books you need to read right now! Seriously, what are you doing, go? Read something!
